Session Type
Listed above you can see what types of sessions I offer. An engagement, maternity, milestone, family or senior session can be done as a Mini Willow or a Full Willow.
Locations
I am located in North Collins, New York and have 5 park like acres with 3 rustic barns and a mini apple orchard. I also travel within reasonable distances.
I love to use local beaches and parks. Some of my favorites are Evangola Beach in Irving, Knox Farm in East Aurora and Chestnut Ridge in Orchard Park. I'm always excited to try new locations that you have in mind as well. A travel charge may be added if traveling over 25 miles from the studio.
Best time for a session
For outdoor sessions, the best time of day is about a hour before the sun sets. "Golden Hour" offers really beautiful lighting. Of course this isn't always the best time of day for little ones so I am flexible on time. We can still get that warm summer light earlier in the evening.
Maternity sessions are done 4-6 weeks before baby is due.
Newborn sessions are done anywhere between 5 and 14 days old. If baby is born early that time frame can be extended. The best time of day for a Newborn Session is mid morning. This gives us the best chance for a sleepy baby. Newborn sessions are typically scheduled during the week.
When will your album be ready
Depending on time of year my turn around time is usually 2-3 weeks from the day of session. If you would like to have your album complete and time to print your images for a special occasion please schedule your session accordingly.
Best places to print your images
On your print release it will list my recommendation for print labs.
My very favorite print lab is www.mpix.com. I also love www.nationsphotolab.com and www.shutterfly.com
I do not recommend printing your images at Walmart, Walgreens, or Rite-aid.
Cake Smash Sessions
Regular portraits along with family and sibling shots are done prior to the cake smash. Those can be done outdoors (weather permitting) or in studio. Up to 2 outfit changes for those pictures and then one more for the cake portion.
I have my clients bring a cake along with them for allergy reasons.
I recommend a white/vanilla cake with mostly white frosting. Any color accent frosting is fine. A cake smash session can be done in studio or outdoors during the summer months.
What to wear
Deciding on outfits for portraits can be difficult. I recommend soft colors and neutrals. Avoid neon colors as those tend to cast color onto the skin.
Pinterest has some great color schemes and ideas and I'm always here to help you decide!
I do have a maternity closet with dresses that are available for my clients to use for their session and I also have been collecting baby and toddler outfits that will be available soon as well.
Studio Newborn Session
Newborn sessions are typically done between 5 and 14 days old. If baby is born early that time frame can be extended. If baby is overdue I recommend a little sooner than the two week mark.
If you are planning on family and sibling shots, those will be done first and then I have coffee, snacks, Netflix and Disney+ so you can sit and relax while I take baby's solo shots.
We will discuss, props, posing and color preferences during your booking.
Heirloom Session
Heirloom sessions are a personalized and timeless experience designed to capture cherished moments and create lasting memories for generations to come. These are done on location at your home or grandparents home. This session can include the whole family or just focus on grandpa and grandma. These sessions can be tailored to your choice. Grandma baking in the kitchen, grandpa fishing etc.
